Chapter Twenty-Eight
Abschluss
Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße
Charlottenburg,
Berlin
Late August 1956
In the chapter, the parent organisation of the pro-Waffen-SS 'benevolent association' HIAG is created, with much controversy from unreconstructed Nazis, and Bekka meets a 'British agent' Berringer, with whom she has a chilling encounter. Sepp is finally released from prison, and Bekka meets him often; he struggles to regain a relationship with his wife and family. After a deadly meeting with Berringer, who reveals himself as a hardcore Nazi, Bekka and Kalli are rescued by Otto and Sepp, and flee to Switzerland, where Otto has a house waiting for them. Otto tells Bekka that Sepp is about to be arrested again.
