Chapter Thirty-Three Pilgrimage Budapest November 1960   In this chapter, Bekka, Karl, and the Duffendorfs travel to Budapest to talk to Rudi's nurse at the Rock Hospital and visit the  Farkasréti Cemetery  where he is buried; they have a strange encounter. Chapter Twenty-Seven Division and Multiplication Berlin, Nancy 1945-51   In this chapter, Sepp and the others of the 6th Panzer Army are subjected to terrible conditions in captivity. Many are tortured and even Sepp is abused.  They are sentenced to death, which is later reduced to life imprisonment. Otto and his brother Robert make an extensive world tour, collecting material for lectures and Zita makes up a list of bridal candidates for Otto. Ernst Hohenberg sues the Austrian government for the return of their patrimonial property and enables Sophie, Fritz, and family to live on the estate in peace and safety. Chapter Twenty-Six Da Capo Berlin August 1945   In this chapter, Hilda goes to work as a translator with the British Legation and moves into an apartment in the Steubenplatz in Charlottenburg, and Bekka begins her work with MI6, moving into an apartment nearby in the Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße and has furniture and fittings sent from the family. She and Bobby go on a denazification course as part of their cover, and discuss the usefulness of the tactics employed. She and Bobby go on their first foray, which results in a skirmish with the Soviets in their sector. The Cold War has already begun. Hilda has a new boyfriend, Gergy Apàthy, a fellow interpreter for the British who was in Sachsenhausen with her parents, whom she learns died near the end of the war. They are married, and host folk music evenings in their apartment. Bekka tells Hilda the truth about Rudi, and Hilda offers to find out where he is buried.
