In this chapter, Sepp Dietrich dies and Bekka and Karl attend the funeral, where they meet Colonel Siegfried Müller, and Bekka and Kalli have a conversation about Nazism, Dresden, and their escape from Vienna. Karl has a new girlfriend, Verena Dodinsky, the child of Jewish refugees his grandparents helped get out of Germany. Karl begins his career in the aerospace industry and he and Vina marry and start a family.
Sepp's gravestone, which was removed in 2015, by Wolf-Dieter, due to excessive tributes from neo-Nazis.

The Controversy over Sepp Dietrich's Funeral - The display of Waffen-SS cameraderie, 'just like a veteran meeting' caused some disturbance with Ludwigsburg's sister city in France. 'During a Funeral in Ludwigsburg, Nazi Germany was Resurrected.' The actual attendance of Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht was around 7000. Paris Newspaper article
