Chapter Eleven - Group Leader

Chapter Eleven
Group Leader
Vienna
September 1940-January 1942

In this Chapter, Bekka convinces the Gauleiter Baldur von Schirach and Himmler to allow her to study medicine after the war, and graduates from school, taking up her required time as a Land Girl on the Hungarian border. Hilda takes a new job with an architectural firm with a computer. On Bekka's return from Land Service, they volunteer at Vienna's field hospitals, teach the BDM girls and do other required service, and Bekka is moved up into the Faith and Beauty Society, and becomes a First Aid instructor.

Another coup attempt is made by the Wehrmacht due to the planned invasion of France, and Sepp for the first of many times disobeys orders due to conditions on the ground at Dunkirk and is attacked by machine gun fire and spends the day in a muddy ditch. Paris falls. Sepp is sent to the guard the pass to Italy in the Greek campaign and shortens the assault with clever action. He is sent to Czechoslovakia, and to the Eastern Front, for the infamous ill-prepared for winter campaign. He and Ursula are finally allowed to marry.
