Chapter Four -A.E.I.O.U.

Chapter Four
A.E.I.O.U.
Vienna
May-June 1930

In this chapter, the family go to the Imperial parish at the Karlskirche, make improving visits to the National History Museum, the Schönbrunn and Hofburg palaces, and the difficult subject of the necessity of Bekka's staying in Vienna is broached. After this, the family visit Grandmamma, Maria Theresa, the beloved stepmother of Bekka and Aunt Sophie's fathers. We learn the dramatic stories of Franz Ferdinand and Ferdinand Karl's determination to marry for love, at great personal cost, and of Bekka's own origin, why she is called Angel by her family. In addition to the monthly family visits, Bekka also visits Grandmamma alone weekly and learns much about how to be a Habsburg.
